During the 5th International Cement Business Conference "White Nights" held in St Petersburg, Russia on May 29 - 31 in 2019, Ed has delivered the following presentation:

'Global development AFR use'

Ed Verhamme of Alternate Resource Partners gave a global overview of AF trends. He suggested that AF has the potential of abating 750Mt of CO2 per year by 2050 if current trends continue. If all EU countries had a 60% TSR, 26Mt of CO2 emissions would be avoided each year, 15.Mt of waste would be processed, 11.1Mt of coal use would be avoided and Euro12bn of investment in Waste to Energy plants could also be avoided. The overview covered the following topics:

     - Developments in:
         o Traditional fuels/energy
         o Alternative fuels (TSR)
         o Alternative fuels (waste sources)

The main take home messages according to Ed is:
Russia has a great potential for the development of AFR Programs in their cement industry and the (Russian) cement industry could/should play an important role in improving the future Russian waste management infrastructure.
